Quick Overview

This interactive course is designed to provide students with a better understanding the physiology of fluid and electrolyte imbalances. Composition of body fluids, fluid compartments and factors that affect movement of water and solutes are reviewed. The regulation of vascular volume and extracellular fluid osmolality will also be presented.  Laboratory data important on the assessment of patients with fluid and electrolyte imbalance (sodium, potassium, calcium phosphorus and magnesium) will also be explored. Common clinical conditions associated with fluid and electrolyte disorders are also covered as part of this course.

Completion Requirements

In order to receive full contact-hour credit for this CE activity, participants must:

  1. Be registered for this activity,
  2. Review the course material,
  3. Complete the course post-test and obtain a grade of 70% or higher,
  4. Complete and submit the course evaluation survey.
  5. Other requirements for some of the courses may also include participation discussion boards, practice exercises, practice questions, etc.
