Treating Asthma: A Pharmacological Approach

This course introduces participants to the symptoms and etiology of asthma and the underlying pathophysiology of the disease and covered important points about the evaluation of the patient with asthma and important teaching points in patient education. Pharmacologic therapies discussed include: Anti-inflammatory agents (corticosteroids and cromolyn), bronchodilators (short and long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonists), leukotriene modifiers, IgE antagonists (omalizumab), anticholinergic drugs and methylxanthines.
