This course discusses concepts of infection control and its application to the health care and home environments. Health care–acquired infections and preventive measures for the health care environment are reviewed. CDC guidelines regarding standard and transmission-based precautions including but not limited to hand washing are covered. Types of barrier protection that should be used for different infectious disorders are identified.
