ECG Interpretation for Nurses


Designed as an online companion to ECGs Made Easy, 4th Edition (included with paid tuition), this course reinforces concepts with videos, animations, and interactive exercises. Most chapters feature a "Scenario Challenge" case study with a sample rhythm strip and other relevant clinical information. 50 rhythms by examining tracings and viewing rhythms on oscilloscopes as if on a real ECG monitor. Automatically scored assessments include chapter quizzes and a final post test.

Target Audience

This course is designed for nurses and other healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their skills in ECG interpretation.


Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system
  2. Understand basic concepts of electrophysiology
  3. Describe sinus mechanisms
  4. Recognize atrial, juntional, ventricular, and pacemaker rythms
  5. Understand atrial ventricular (AV) blocks
  6. Recognize rythms associated with each type of AV block
  7. Understand the basics of 12 leads ECG

Completion Requirements

In order to receive full contact-hour credit for this CNE activity, participants must:

  • Be registered for this activity,
  • Review the course material,
  • Complete the course post-test and obtain a grade of 70% or higher,
  • Complete and submit the course evaluation survey.
  • Other requirements for some of the courses may also include participation discussion boards, practice exercises, practice questions, etc.
