
HIV/AIDS Update for Florida Nurses
Overview
Although advances have been made in treating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), the epidemic remains a critical public health issue in all communities across the country and around the world. This course will discuss·the pathophysiology, incidence and modes of transmission of HIV/AIDS,·guidelines for management, treatment,·prevention strategies for patients and healthcare providers, as well as·specific legal requirements as outlined by the Florida Statues as it relates to HIV/AIDS.
Target Audience
This course is designed for Florida nurses and other healthcare professionals required to obtain a one-hour HIV/AIDS update course as a condition for licensure renewal. This course is also designed for Florida nurses and other healthcare professionals looking to enhance their knowledge on HIV/AIDS.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the pathophysiology, incidence and modes of transmission of HIV/AIDS.
- Describe the latest’s guidelines for management and treatment of patients with HIV/AIDS.
- Understand prevention strategies for patients and healthcare providers.
- Describe specific legal requirements as outlined by the Florida Statues.
Completion Requirements
In order to receive full contact-hour credit for this CNE activity, participants must:
- Be registered for this activity,
- Review the course material,
- Complete the course post-test and obtain a grade of 70% or higher,
- Complete and submit the course evaluation survey.
- Other requirements for some of the courses may also include participation discussion boards, practice exercises, practice questions, etc.
